Thanks to popular customer demand, leading kitchen and flooring installation products manufacturer Unika has extended its innovative range of worktop protector rods to help hoteliers increase the life of their luggage areas.

The pack of six stainless steel rods, which were originally developed at 30cm and 45cm lengths to protect kitchen work surfaces from hot pans, have proved so durable and versatile that Unika has decided to offer an extended 60cm version to hoteliers as an elegant luggage rack solution.

It is hoped the new luggage rods, which have been specifically developed to withstand a range of extremities, will provide hoteliers a modern way to protect areas and furniture commonly damaged by heavy cases.

Featuring three screw holes for added security, the self-adhesive rods have proved particularly popular among trades’ people as they are quick and easy to apply as they do not require any routing.

Unika’s marketing manager Louise Scott said: “We’ve found the protector rods are also popular because they are so versatile and look great on any style of matt, gloss, solid wood or granite worktop or furniture.”

She added: “As we are always developing new and innovative products, we were only too pleased to extend the range after customers were so delighted with how effective the rods are and they could see other uses – particularly for the hotel industry.”

Leading manufacturer of flooring and kitchen installation products Unika has launched two new high-quality self-adhesive films to protect floors and worktops during painting, plastering, building, tiling and general maintenance and repair work.

‘Protect floor/worktops’ is ideal for protecting hard surfaces such as kitchen units, wood, laminates, ceramic tiles and vinyl while ‘Protect your floor’ shields carpet and fabric from mess, dirt, staining, spillages and soiling during commercial or domestic work.

The easy-to-roll films, which can be left in place for up to two weeks, have been reverse-wound so they are simple to put down as no specialist applicator is required. They are also easy to remove and will not leave a sticky residue after work is complete. As the film is waterproof, ‘Protect floor/worktops’ and ‘Protect your floor’ is ideal to safeguard against expensive-to-clean spillages from paints, varnishes, oils or other specialist cleaning fluids. They are also ideal for hallways or entrances to protect against dirty shoes or work boots.

Unika’s marketing manager Louise Scott said: “We’ve spent a lot of time researching and developing our new ‘Protect floor/worktops’ and ‘Protect your floor’ films to ensure they are a high-quality and easy-to-use product by both tradespeople as well as DIY enthusiasts.” She added: “Aside from all the benefits of ensuring that your floors, worktops and carpets remain in perfect condition, the films also offer safer protection than traditional dustsheets as they will not creep or wrinkle after application, which can cause a trip hazard.”
